Oswald Robertson, a pharmacist and druggist in Bridge of Allan was a ‘rival’ of Gilbert Farie [Strathallan Pharmacy]. Oswald Robertson died suddenly in 1895 [he had a history of heart disease]. His pharmacy was in the ‘Penzance building’. It would seem that he was involved in designing this building.

A monogrammed architectural neuk, facing Union Street, has always been left empty. To this day it remains so. One has to wonder if Oswald Robertson had intentions for it? Perhaps for a sculpture? Sadly, whatever plan he may have had for it, was not realised. Time ‘defeated’ his idea.
